The fellowship scheme aims to assist international students who will enroll in a PhD degree coursework at the University.

About University of Copenhagen

University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is a well-known public research university situated in Copenhagen, Denmark. The second-oldest university in Scandinavia, and one of the greatest in the Nordic countries and Europe, was founded in 1479. It assists students with admissions, housing, and counseling, as well as hosting orientation programs that include a variety of social events.

Applicable Program

A Ph.D. degree program in applied statistics in monitoring pesticide effects.


To be eligible for the scholarship program, you must have completed a degree program, equivalent to a Danish master’s degree (180 ECTS/3 FTE BSc + 120 ECTS/2 FTE MSc) related to the subject area of the project, e.g. statistics, mathematics, environmental modeling, or environmental toxicology.


The University of Copenhagen will offer the terms of employment and salary following the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State (AC). The position is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.

Application Process:

To successfully apply for the fellowship, all interested candidates are required to be admitted to a PhD degree at the University of Copenhagen. After getting enrolled, applicants must complete and submit the online application form.

  •  Motivated letter of application (max. one page)
  • Your motivation for applying for the specific PhD project
  • Curriculum vitae including information about your education, experience, language skills and other skills relevant for the position
  • Original diplomas for Bachelor of Science or Master of Science and transcript of records in the original language, including an authorized English translation if issued in another language than English or Danish. If not completed, a certified/signed copy of a recent transcript of records or a written statement from the institution or supervisor is accepted.
  • Publication list (if possible)
  • Reference letters (if available)

Entry Requirements:

  • Professional qualifications relevant to the PhD project, i.e. qualifications within statistics and good programming skills.
  • Relevant publications within the areas of statistics, modelling or toxicology
  • Relevant work experience
  • Other relevant professional activities
  • Curious mind-set with a strong interest in applied statistics and R programming skills
  • Good written and spoken English language skills
